Eduardo Kac (b.1962, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) ::: Article

Artist, art theorist. His research work deals with the new technologies' communication phenomena (telepresence, biotelematic, gene engineering). His art works were exhibited internationally at such venues as the Ronald Feldman Fine Arts (New York), Maison Europeenne de la Photographie (Paris), the OK Contemporary Art Center (Linz), the InterCommunication Center (Tokyo), the Seoul Museum of Art (Korea), the Museum of Modern Art (Rio de Janeiro). Took part in numerous international contemporary art exhibitions, incl. 1st Yokohama Triennial (Japan), 49th International Venice Biennale (Italy), 1st Mercosul Biennial (Brazil), 4th Saint Petersburg Biennial (Russia) and others. His activity was featured in contemporary art publications ("Flash Art", "Artforum", "ARTnews", "Kunstforum", "Tema Celeste", "Artpress", "NY Arts Magazine") and in mass media (ABC, BBC, PBS, "Le Monde", "Boston Globe", "Washington Post", "Chicago Tribune", "New York Times"). Works are in the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Joan Flasch Artists' Book Collection (Chicago), the Museum of Modern Art (Rio de Janeiro) and others. Intensively teaches and delivers lectures. As the member of the magazine "Leonardo" editorial board, worked on a number of contemporary art miscellanies, incl. "Biotechnology, Art, & Culture" (Cambridge: MIT, forthcoming 2004).
